The Magic of Small, Special Things
There was a time when anything “seasonal” just wasn’t on my radar. In my younger, more frantic, go-go-go era, any holiday mug (if I even had one) lived on the counter all year long. Not because I was in the holiday spirit… but because who had the time (or the mental bandwidth) to put things away? If it was clean and held coffee, it stayed. That was the vibe.
But now? Now I understand the magic of intention.
This weekend, we took out the red snowflake Christmas mugs and carefully put away our orange-leaf Thanksgiving mugs — and something inside me softened. It felt like this tiny, tender ritual. A pause. A moment of, “Oh… this matters.”
And it hit me: these little swaps are actually little gifts we give ourselves.
They’re reminders that we’re worthy of specialness.
That we deserve moments that feel gentle and thoughtful.
That life doesn’t have to be rushed, chaotic, go-go-go, or “whatever works.”
Intentionality is a love language to yourself.
When you choose to make something special — even something as simple as rotating your seasonal mugs — you’re saying: “Hey you, you matter. You’re worth slowing down for.”
It’s not about the mug.
It’s about the moment.
It’s about creating a life where love and caring for ourselves isn’t last on the list. ✨✨
Taking out those Christmas mugs reminded me that intentionality doesn’t require a big budget, a big achievement, or a big transformation. It’s built in the small, soft touches:
✨ Lighting a candle before you sit down to work
✨ Using your favorite pen
✨ Putting on lipstick even if you're not leaving the house
✨ Playing your favorite playlist while folding laundry
✨ Rotating seasonal mugs because it feels nice
These details bring us back to ourselves — the self who wants joy, beauty, comfort, and presence.
So this season (and honestly, all year long)…
Let yourself add a little special touch, even if you think it’s silly or small.
Let your life have ritual, warmth, and intention.
Let things be meaningful — because you deserve that version of your life.
And if you’re in a frenetic era right now, where everything feels like “whatever works”? That’s okay. Been there. Truly. The specialness will wait for you until you’re ready.
Wherever you’re at, my wish is that we all get to experience specialness, softness, and those tiny moments that make the end of the year feel extra warm. ✨
